Autistic Children's Theatre

A.C.T. was set up to provide much needed opportunities for Autistic Children to engage in Theatre arts. It is a drama class for Autistic children aged 6-18 tailored specifically to their individual needs. Non-Autistic siblings are also welcome to attend with their brother or sister at a reduced cost.

Each session will vary depending on who is attending and the time of year, but may involve activities designed to work on vocal skills, social skills, improvisation and building confidence, as well as singing songs, playing instruments and dressing up in a fun, pressure free setting. Occasionally we put on small performances where each child plays a part of their choosing.

Cost: £5 per child, £8 for 2 children, £10 for 3 children

Our team

ACT runs separately to Neurospicy Wings and is a not for profit Community Venture run by Dr Sarah Radev (Clinical Psychologist and diagnosed adult with ASD and an autistic son) and her mother, Helen Cleaves, a former actress who trained as a Drama Teacher (Cert. Ed.) at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.”

Dr Sarah Radev

Clinical Psychologist

Sarah is a Clinical Psychologist who has a special interest in Autism and supporting Autistic individuals. She is an Autistic adult and has an Autistic son who has a love of drama. Sarah also has a degree in English Literatue and Film and Television Studies and has a love of stories and the characters that make them.

Helen Cleaves

Drama Coach

Helen trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama followed by a drama teaching qualification at Cyncoed college Cardiff. She worked as an actress on stage and television for 9 years before settling down to family life. She continued to do occasional acting jobs and lip sync adaptations of foreign films into English until moving to Risca to set up a boarding Cattery from which she is now retired.
